Chicken soup…it’s the ultimate comfort food. Perfect for when you’re under the weather or ‘just because’, but there’s so many ways to level up your basic chicken soup!

There’s so many chicken soup recipes to try out – from immune boosting soups and noodle filled versions all the way to chicken laksa. There’s a chicken soup recipe for every occasion!

What can I add to my chicken soup to give it flavour?

Adding toppings is a great way to add extra flavour to your chicken soup recipes. If you’ve got leftover roast chicken that is a great addition to just about any chicken soup, chicken noodles or ramen. You can also add fried chicken for something different but still delicious.

Veggies make a great addition to chicken soup if you want to add some extra flavour, you can also make your own chicken stock if you really want to go above and beyond. Regardless of how much or how little chicken stock your chicken soup recipe requires, using your homemade chicken stock will really level up the flavour! And homemade stock is of course a great way to use up that whole chook you’ve had rattling around in your freezer for the last couple of months. Trust me, homemade stock is a little extra effort but it is totally worth it!

How to make chicken soup taste richer?

If you’re wanting to add some extra richness to your chicken broth, or your soup is missing something but you can’t put your finger on what, there are a couple of things you can add! Adding mushrooms, soy sauce or miso will all add a flavour punch of umami to your soup making it taste even richer.

Chicken soup is also a labour of love so it might take some extra time to get right. Slow cooking your soup is a great way to add richness and depth to your chicken soup recipes.
