Marion’s Kitchen Soba Noodle Recipes

If you’ve never had soba noodles before, you are definitely missing out! Soba noodles are a Japanese thin noodle generally made of buckwheat. They’re earthy, bouncy and oh so delicious. These are the soba noodle recipes that are unlike anything you’ve had before!

Not only are soba noodles ultra delicious, they are also SUPER simple to prepare. Making them the perfect dinner to whip up on a busy weeknight. Tasty, versatile and super quick – soba noodles are set to become a fast family favourite.

You can serve them chilled, stir-fry them, or toss them through whatever sauce you like… full of so much epicness – Trust me!

What are soba noodles?

Soba noodles, they’re a pillar of a tonne of noodle recipes, but what are they really? The answer is actually pretty simple! Soba noodles are a Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour. They are most commonly served in two very different ways, the first way is served chilled with a dipping sauce, and the second is served hot in a noodle soup (they’re great in chicken noodle soup recipes!). BUT there are loads of different ways to use soba noodles that don’t fall into these two categories. One of my favourite recipes using soba noodles is yakisoba (it’s a stir fried noodle recipe, basically!).

If you’ve never had soba noodles, you are seriously missing out! They are delicious, versatile and so easy to cook with. You can generally find them dried in the Asian section of your local supermarket, but if you are hard pressed hunting them down, try your local Asin grocer. They should be able to give you the soba noodle goods (or at least point you in the right direction for where to get them!).

What goes well with soba noodles?

Soba noodles are obviously delicious as is, but there are a few things that definitely level them up! Firstly, you can totally use them cold in your noodle salad recipes if you want to try something different. Secondly, they are just as good cold as they are hot! Serve them chilled with a dipping sauce and some sliced cucumber for a refreshing (and tasty) treat on a summer’s day! Stir-fry them, add them into soups, stews, curries! Whatever you fancy. The sky’s the limit when it comes to soba noodles, eat them with every meal and thank me later.
