What is the best cooking method for wings?

The best method for cooking chicken wings, in my opinion, is definitely deep frying. If crispy, golden, fried chicken is what you’re after, deep frying is the most foolproof way to get that result. Oven-baking is also a good method, but you might not achieve that crispy, craggly coating you get with deep-frying! Air frying is also a craze that I’ve tried out in recent years, and  the results were super surprising. Crispy, golden wings, sans oil! These chicken wing recipes have all my tips and tricks for delicious, crispy chicken wings no matter the cooking method!

You can also slow cook wings if you’re after more of that fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth chicken wing! You could even try adding your chicken wings to chicken salads or chicken curries if you’re feeling extra creative!

What is the secret to crispy chicken wings?

Deep frying is of course going to get super crispy chicken wings, BUT if deep frying isn’t an option for you, you can achieve crispy oven baked chicken wings with a few super simple tips and tricks. The most foolproof way to oven bake chicken wings and get crispy results is to place the chicken wings on a rack and then on a pan whilst in the oven. This keeps the chicken wings slightly raised, and it lets the hot air from the oven circulate evenly around the chicken wings. It also ensures the fat from the chicken wings drips AWAY from the chicken leading to crispy skin!

Is it better to fry or bake chicken wings?

If it wasn’t clear, I am a huge advocate for deep frying chicken in all forms as an alternative to baking. The results are just a liiiiittle better in my opinion. Of course, not having the option to deep fry shouldn’t keep you from all your craggly, crispy, chicken wing dreams – oven baking is totally feasible, and still delicious!
